Alternative Pit Firing
$100 7/19-7/20 starting @2:00pm
Class Description:
🌾 Graciously held at Woodbridge Farms
We’re hosting a special pit firing this summer and would love for you to join! This is an alternative firing method—super atmospheric, earthy, and fun. It’s less about perfection and more about process, play, and connecting with each other through clay.
Woodbridge Farms is opening their beautiful space for the day (and night opt-in to camp!). Dinner is provided, with optional breakfast for campers or early risers joining us before unearthing pieces. Bring your tent or car camp, we'll gather around a fire talking clay, eating food, and hanging out.
Schedule:
2pm: Setup begins
7pm: Dinner provided
8am (next day): Optional breakfast
9am: Unearthing pieces
Here’s how it works:
You’ll get up to 6 points worth of work in the pit.
1–2 lbs = 1 point
3–5 lbs = 2 points
6–10 lbs = 3 points
Two options for your pieces:
Option 1 (recommended): Drop off work at Earthbound by July 12th for a low-temp bisque—this gives your pieces the best chance of surviving the firing.
Option 2: Bring greenware directly to the pit fire, but it must be completely bone dry.
We’ll go over how the firing works and get into it together. Expect good people, good food, and a chance to try something different in a low-pressure, community-first environment.
