Pricing & Payment

    • We currently offer 3 different classes:

Intro to Wheel Throwing - Perfect for the complete beginner, or those picking it up after some time away. You'll learn the fundamentals of centering, pulling walls, and basic forms.

Beyond Basics - Great for someone coming out of the Intro class, looking to step up their game. We'll dive into more complex shapes, refining your technique, and exploring surface decoration.

Intermediate - This class is designed for people that are comfortable on the wheel and are looking to focus on advanced techniques, consistent form, and developing your personal style.

  • Absolutely! All clay, tools, and firing costs are included in your class fee. Just bring your creativity.

  • Let's be honest - working with clay is wonderfully messy! You'll definitely get clay on your hands and likely your clothes. We recommend wearing something comfortable that you don't mind getting dirty. We do sell studio aprons for $10 to help protect your outfit, or feel free to bring your own.

  • For our Intro and Beyond Basics classes, you can fire up to 10lbs of your work. For Intermediate, you can fire 15lbs. Additional firing is $3/lb.

  • Yes! The 2 hours following your class time will be open for you to continue to work, should you desire. Also, if you’re in our Intermediate class, you can add on 24/7 access to the studio for $100.

  • We know life can get crazy, so we offer one make-up class. Just reach out to us and we’ll find a way to get you caught up.

Classes

  • We offer Wheel Workshops every weekend! They’re great for people to have a quick introduction to what it is like to throw at the wheel. We also offer a lot of rotating specialty workshops. Check out our Workshops page for all of our current options.

  • Yep! Everything's included - clay, tools, glazes, and firing. You just show up ready to create.

  • Included in your workshop is firing 1 of your pieces. If you throw more that you’d also like to fire, you can do that for $5 per additional piece.

  • Plan on about 3-4 weeks for the full firing and glazing process. We'll let you know when your masterpieces are ready for pickup!

Workshops

  • We do! Our memberships are popular (hence the waitlist). For $100/month, you get 24/7 studio access, and a shelf to store all your stuff.

  • We are currently on a waitlist, but if you’d like to hop on that list, apply here: Member Application

  • We wish we could give you a specific answer, but it fluctuates. Reach out to us, and we can let you know how it’s currently looking.

  • Think of it as your ceramic sanctuary. Come and go as you please, work on long-term projects, and join our community of clay enthusiasts. Perfect for serious potters or anyone who finds throwing at 2am surprisingly therapeutic.

  • Clay must be purchased through the studio. That allows us to add in the cost of glazing/firing into your clay purchase. We always have 2 clay bodies available for immediate purchase (Bmix and Hazelnut), and you’re also welcome to add on a different clay to our orders. Clays available can be found at https://westmichiganclay.com/product-catalog

  • Our wheels are a mix of Speedball Clay Bosses and Shimpo Whispers. Into handbuilding? We have a big worksurface, as well as a slab roller and an extruder.

  • We have 3 dedicated member wheels, so even when there's a class in session, there should pretty much always be a wheel available for members to use.

  • Nope! You’re more than welcome to use anything in the studio. We have everything needed. You also get a pack of your own tools when you start your membership.

  • All of our studio glazes are open for use, but should you want to use your own, we ask that you contact us first. Generally speaking, most commercial cone 6 glazes are approved. You are advised to use test tiles when first trying out a new glaze.
